About Ravi

The experience behind the toolkit — from leading product teams to helping companies navigate AI.

I help ambitious product teams build what matters. I’m a product leader, advisor, and investor who has scaled products used by millions of people and built teams to meet the challenge.

Today, I work hands-on with companies ranging from startups to global businesses, including Walmart, Meta, Coinbase, and Miro, as well as startups backed by firms like General Catalyst and Greylock. I help them navigate AI strategy, product development, durable growth, and organizational change.

That work has given me a front-row seat to the same shift across very different companies: product, design, and engineering roles are blurring; smaller teams can build more; and companies are rethinking who sets direction, makes tradeoffs, and owns the outcome.

Before advising companies, I led product organizations at Tinder, Meta, and TripAdvisor. As Chief Product Officer at Tinder, I led the product organization and defined a Gen Z–centric strategy for the next generation of the product. At Meta, I led a team focused on understanding how young people use social media and translating those insights into product strategy.

At TripAdvisor, I led consumer product across Hotels, Restaurants, and Attractions, as well as core experiences including Mobile, Personalization, Search & Discovery, Reviews, and Trip Planning. I also led the international Market Development and Localization organizations. It was there that my team first codified the 12 competencies in this toolkit — a shared language for what great product management looked like at every level.

Earlier in my career, I worked at Microsoft, where I helped define the content and platform strategy for Xbox Live. I started even earlier by founding a game company in high school.

At Reforge, I’ve taught Product Strategy and co-created the AI Strategy, AI Prototyping, and Product Leadership programs. Taken by over 10,000 people, these programs turn lessons from operating and advising into practical systems product teams can use.

AI is changing the product job, leading some people to declare that “product management is dead.” After managing and hiring hundreds of PMs and working with dozens of teams, I see things very differently. More people are building products, which makes product thinking more important than ever: understanding customers, creating excellent products, generating business value, and aligning people around a shared outcome. This toolkit distills what I’ve learned into ideas anyone building a product can use.
